Get Rich Quick = Get Broke Fast

Every year, somebody invents a new way to "get rich quick."

Crypto. Day trading. The newest AI side hustle. Zero-down real estate. The latest internet course. The next can't-miss investment.

Funny how every year the scheme changes...

...but the people selling it always seem to stay rich.

Here's some free advice from your friendly neighborhood crab.

If someone has a guaranteed way to become rich...why are they selling it to you?

Here's another one.

Wall Street gets rich from activity. DGI Crabbers get rich from patience.

The world has become obsessed with shortcuts.

I'm obsessed with ownership.

Let's talk about the difference.

Part One: Stop Chasing Magic Beans

I've been watching "get rich quick" schemes for decades.

They always sound different.

They always promise the same thing.

Easy money. Little effort. Financial freedom in six easy steps.

Sorry.

I don't buy it.

I'm convinced that "get rich quick" is one of the most expensive phrases in the English language.

People lose money.

Then they lose confidence.

Then they stop investing altogether.

That's the real tragedy.

I'm not saying every trader fails. I'm not saying every entrepreneur fails. I'm certainly not saying every online business is a scam.

Some people build incredible companies. Some people become exceptional traders. Good for them.

But that's not what most people are buying.

They're buying hope.

They're buying shortcuts.

They're buying the idea that someone else has discovered a secret.

Here's the secret.

There isn't one.

If it sounds too good to be true...it probably comes with a monthly subscription.

Part Two: There Are Two Choices: The Hard Path and the REALLY Hard Path

Here's the reality.

There is no easy path.

There never was.

You only get to choose between the Hard Path...

...and the REALLY Hard Path.

The Hard Path is pretty simple.

Go to work. Build a career. Start a side hustle if you enjoy it. Work overtime. Drive for Uber. Coach baseball. Mow lawns. Build a YouTube channel. Find honest ways to earn more money.

Then take that extra income and buy exceptional dividend growth stocks and ETFs.

Reinvest every dividend.

Repeat.

That's hard.

Nobody said building wealth would be easy.

Now let's talk about the REALLY Hard Path.

Jump from one "can't miss" investment to the next. Buy whatever social media is hyping this week. Purchase expensive online courses promising financial freedom. Lose money. Get frustrated. Start over. Repeat.

Five years later, you're standing in exactly the same place — except now you've wasted time, money, and confidence.

That's not the easy path.

That's the REALLY Hard Path.

The DGI Crab strategy isn't flashy. It isn't exciting. It isn't going to make you rich next Tuesday.

What it will do is steadily move you closer to financial independence year after year.

Here's my philosophy.

EARN IT.

Earn the paycheck. Earn the promotion. Earn the side hustle income. Earn the savings.

Then let exceptional businesses go to work earning money alongside you.

Because after enough years, something funny happens.

The Hard Path turns out to have been the easier path all along.

Part Three: The DGI Crab Strategy

People ask me all the time what my investing strategy is.

Honestly?

It's wonderfully boring.

And I mean that as a compliment.

First — figure out which investment tier matches your age and time horizon. If you're younger, focus on Tier One. As retirement gets closer, gradually transition into Tier Two and eventually Tier Three. Your age determines your investment universe.

Second — within your tier, compare each company's current dividend yield to its four-year average dividend yield. When today's yield is comfortably above its historical average, the market is often offering you a better-than-normal buying opportunity. That's when I start paying attention.

Third — buy. Turn on DRIP. Go live your life.

Seriously.

You don't need to stare at stock charts all day. You don't need to panic every time the market drops 3%. You don't need to chase the newest "life-changing" investment.

Own exceptional businesses. Collect growing dividends. Reinvest them. Repeat for decades.

That's it.

No secret formula. No magic indicator. No Lamborghini in the thumbnail.

Just patience.

Final Thoughts from the DGI Crab

I've never met anyone who stayed wealthy because they found a shortcut.

I have met plenty of people who quietly built wealth one paycheck, one investment, one dividend, one reinvestment, one year at a time.

That's the path I'm interested in.

Forget the shortcuts. Forget the gurus. Forget the magic beans.

I don't chase Lamborghinis. I chase dividend increases.

Build a career. Start a side hustle if you want. Live below your means. Buy exceptional businesses. Turn on DRIP.

Then let compounding do something no internet guru ever can.

Quietly make you wealthy.

Because getting rich slowly...

...is still getting rich.
